A software solution of this complexity would typically require 6 months to a year or more in development and testing.  However, in order to capture significant market share, our client needed this application completed and ready to take to market in 10 weeks. ‍ On top of that, CMS required a lot of patient data, 144 fields in total. While many of these data points already existed in each hospice’s EHR system, an integration needed to be constructed in order to automatically bring in the data. This would prevent nursing staff from being bogged down by hours of manual data entry, a necessary value proposition to the agencies. ‍ Naturally, not every agency uses the same EHR system, so a variety of systems needed integrating, including Aprima, Cerner, Allscripts, HL7, SunCoast, ZirMed, Greenway Health, The Clearing House, and Practice Insight.
